TIMELESS

 – By John Chizoba Vincent We die through this black pages A pack of us tamed the sunrise You never betray your own self Life is beyond the firmament You are the yesterday today spoke of. We are the legs that search for hope A Raven craving for some reasons To live among the living dead here Life is beyond the bread you hold You’re the symbol of the rainbow colours A timeless classic beauty strive A fault created in the stars of you Man dines like Demi ants in jolly Death dislike living and fear is lost Where ticking hands rover around. A timeless beauty is a classic rock Timeless images are your doubts How do we become crying shadows? How do this timeless muse escape? How do we manage to love and hate? We are no better off than those pimples On the dead man’s face chilling joyfully. We are made of this timeless symbols, Joyous cells of mannered eloquence, No bed for those that left this shore to die. I will tell you that the river in our thr...

BEAUTIFUL SOUL

By Emmanuela Yakubu Let me drink of your drunkenness Staggering into the last wind of your nostril before you give up your ghost If you're the Christ, you wouldn't have been lost Your breath was my sustenance, now it's gone But they killed him, they killed him 'cos he was blasphemous They said he used hard sayings just to be famous But I know, I know he is Messiah. I am the lady who was always with him Yes! The one who washed his feet Now I stare at his lifeless body burdened Tears dancing down ma cheeks like a stream rolling through a ridge My heart burns with an unquenching fire, it's not rage I only understand the extent of his message When his eyes caught mine, there was on utterance for his love for me, the basis of his beautiful exchange His life for my death on a prepared stage The cross, the crux of God's justice wroth Oh precious blood, fill my thirst. When did this begin...? As old as he exist I am enthralled at th...

MAMA ALADIRE

By Ola Vincent Omotade Dedicated to my Grand-mother... Mrs Aina iroko aladire who lost valiantly  to the earthly struggles of  7th April  2002     Alone was I by the roadside leading to Ilu Ogbon crying bitterly in my hands, as if this  tears is not gonna stop.  I saw this dark woman laughing out at me, drew me nearer and kissed me. am not here to give you jingling rhymes of musical languages. I can still remember the good old days fresh in my memories. my secondary school was then located in a desert called ilu-Ogbon just about 50km far away home, just as a boy a little one, I never had opportunity to know what mother's care was, I never even knew how the mother's kiss sedates one's spirit, in fact almost did I know how the breast milk tasted when I left home in sadness and sorrow , with one penny, with tears looking for help if there is any. on my way to ilu ogbon, I met a woman IYALADIRE she came as a friend standing through good ...

KID ONCE AGAIN

By Ola Vincent Omotade Crouched beneath empty blocks of office Two wrinkled hands formed of clay,  open the closed sky with gnarled fingers eyes as beautiful as a Christmas girl's, without gifting, sob Sometimes i really miss being a kid Kids know no stress Kids have no worries Just a smile on our faces soft as petals of the frangipani, nature enjoys us as much as her simplicity But now I am stressed Occupied with enough worries And sometimes I look back at the past And wish I was still in kid

FEBRUARY 27

By Ola Vincent Omotade Aderonke will be my only poem that never ends, For a good woman is but a poem. A genuine poem that comes in blue moon. You are a jewel of purest gold, The smile that never grows old. You are the beauty of the sunset sky, The intricate twinkle of a happy star. You are the keeper of an unborn life, A champion, heroine, a candlelight . You are a budding shoot, evergreen, a colourful sweetness. Your laughter is like the whirlwind of the spirit, it  keeps resounding in the valleys and hills of life and motions. Encircling the hearts of men with magical notions. So now the night of January is past and the day of February is broken Today speaks of this calmness, this brightness, the one you brought. Today carries  messages of heavy words, Words that are pregnant with beauty for you. And with my golden mouth and pen, I wish to celebrate your existence. What joy of a fuller and freer life, have I got if onl...
